ThyssenKrupp Nirosta wins NRW business award for exemplary partnership with Krefeld school
The third NRW business awards, organized under the patronage of state premier Jürgen Rüttgers and supported among others by the foundation “Partner für Schule NRW”, were presented in Düsseldorf last night by schools minister Barbara Sommer and economics minister Christa Thoben. Projects were honored which support young people with a migration background and address the current challenges of integration and demographic change. The aims of the business awards are to highlight the importance of young talent from all backgrounds, draw attention to exemplary projects throughout the state and encourage other firms to emulate them. 41 companies, who had demonstrated particular responsibility with their community involvement, took part in this competition. Eleven companies were short-listed. Three main awards (depending on company size) and one honor award were presented. ThyssenKrupp Nirosta (Krefeld) won first prize in the category for companies with more than 250 employees. The learning workshop is helping ThyssenKrupp Nirosta fight the shortage of skilled workers and underlines its social responsibility to the community at the Krefeld site. For the Theodor-Heuss-Hauptschule the extra resource, combining theory and practice, enhances the standing of the school and improves the prospects of school-leavers as they start working life.
